Who We Are
Leading the Green Gas Revolution
Founded in 2008, Future Biogas is a highly experienced developer and operator of AD plants across the UK, responsible for over £120m in biogas infrastructure. At present, we operate 12 large-scale AD plants, primarily located across the East and North-East of England.
Future Biogas is pioneering the first unsubsidised biomethane project in the UK - Project Carbon Harvest. On one side of our business we partner with businesses to decarbonise their gas and heat demands, whilst also helping offset residual emissions with high integrity carbon removal solutions. On the other side, we partner with farmers local to our sites to grow energy crops and help them transition to sustainable growing methods. These crops then become the feedstock for our AD plants.
Your Journey to Net Zero
We help organisations reduce their emissions and move towards their net zero goals with green gas and high-integrity carbon removal certificates.
Biomethane
Biomethane is a direct substitute for fossil natural gas that can be used by businesses to help tackle scope 1 emissions. Biomethane is currently the only carbon neutral gas available in commercial quantities. It is an ideal fuel for difficult to decarbonise sectors like shipping, heat and heavy transport. Because our inputs are locally grown energy crops the costs are independent of the natural gas price and the associated price volatility.

Our new BECCS plants allow us to capture bio-derived CO2. This CO2 can either be utilised or can generate Carbon Removal Certificates to help with unavoidable emissions. Liquified CO2 from our plants will be permanently geologically sequestered, removing it from the atmosphere.

Project Carbon Harvest is our strategy and guiding philosophy for our new generation of plants that combines anaerobic digestion, regenerative farming and permanent carbon sequestration to deliver a multi-value and circular economy.
